Our Journey

Catherine was born in Ireland, raised in South Africa and inspired by living in London and Hong Kong. Catherine’s designs take cultural references from her nomadic lifestyle and her passion for long forgotten craft techniques and femininity for creating magical Bridal Separates & Gowns for the contemporary, eco-conscious bride. 
Traditional techniques with a modernist twist of simplicity form the foundation of Catherine’s work and are fuelled by the continual search for new methods from around the world. Juxtaposition plays an important part in the aesthetic of Catherine’s designs.
Between textile and craft, strength and fragility and old meets new there is a consistent balance drawn in all that she creates; every Yin has a Yang. Catherine is inspired by Nature, Love, Beauty, Harmony, Spirituality & a touch of Nostalgia.
Catherine started the brand out of her lounge in London in 2005. Atelier Arcangel is the creative parent to Catherine Deane the brand and is an international operation with a showroom in London, the design studio based in the heart of South Africa, Cape Town and operations where it all took off, Hong Kong.
Our vision is to make women feel beautiful and valued, to positively impact the community around us and create more love, joy and authentic connections through the medium of bespoke fashion. We promise to provide you with beautifully designed, luxurious, quality garments that are comfortable and affordable.
