THE CATHERINE DEANE GUIDE TO FINDING YOUR BRIDAL STYLE

You’re ready to start the journey to find your dream wedding dress, but your Pinterest board is flooded with beaded gowns, minimal gowns and some lace pieces just for good measure – where to start and how ever will you choose, you might ask?! Not to worry, we quizzed our lovely team of CD stylists on their favourite bridal styles and how to establish what your bridal style is. Locking in your bridal style goes a long way when it comes to planning your big day as this element will help you make decisions on your wedding venue, floral arrangements, decor and last but not least, your wedding gown and accessories. Here are some of our all-time favourite bridal styles, with tips and tricks, and even a little inspiration, as to how to get the look!

Bohemian Bridal Style

Out with the OTT faux flower crowns and influx of pampas grass adorned arches, the modern bohemian bridal style has evolved into a more subtle and sophisticated look that is less about a theme and more about a mood. To us, the quintessential boho wedding gown would ideally consist of flowing fabrics and semi-fitted silhouettes that allow the bride to dance the night away, barefoot with a glass of wine in hand. Textural elements like graphic laces, 3D trims and billowing sleeves add allure to this effortless bridal style – we love Taylor Hill’s layered, off-the-shoulder wedding dress as inspiration for our boho brides. Our London Boutique stylists pairs statement earrings and vintage inspired heals with styles like the Lilith Gown, Catherine Gown, or Tori Topper & Tara Skirt for an effortless bohemian bridal look.

Our top picks to get the bohemian bridal look is the Lilith Gown, Amaya Veil and Alba Tassel Earrings

 Romantic Bridal Style

Our romantic brides veer towards gowns that feature elements of floral lace, soft blush and champagne linings, as well as frothy tulles. Design elements to look out for in this bridal style category are off-the-shoulder necklines, slinky fit-and-flair silhouettes, skinny straps and semi-sheer details by way of plunging necklines and cowl backs. One of our absolute favourite weddings to reference when consulting on the romantic bridal style is Shanina Shaik’s eternally romantic wedding in the Bahamas where she wore a semi-sheer floral lace gown in a fit-and-flare silhouette that emphasised her decolletage with its off-the-shoulder neckline.
Complete your romantic bridal look with voluminous tulle veils, decorated with scattered flowers as well as a classic pearl drop earring or necklace.

Our top picks to get the romantic bridal look is the Mia Gown, Tilly Veil and Astoria Earrings

Modern Bridal Style

Modern bridal style is heavily influenced by minimalism – look out for meticulous tailoring, structured silhouettes and clean lines. Detail is added by way of accessories and attention to craftmanship as opposed to frilly laces and beaded elements. Perhaps one of our all-time favourite modern wedding day looks has got to be Nicola Peltz’s square neckline wedding gown with thick straps and column shaped skirt. Our London Boutique stylists love pairing the modern bridal style with plain tulle veils and statement pearl earrings.

Our top picks to get the modern bridal look is the Olive Gown, Atillia Veil and Arelaide Earrings

Classic Bridal Style

The classic bridal style draws inspiration from traditional wedding trends. Brides that gravitate towards this style often opt for ball gown silhouettes, sweetheart necklines, and structured, or corseted bodices. Just because this style is influenced by old-world bridal glamour does not mean it is dated! Modern classic brides can incorporate elements like dramatic, thigh high leg splits and skinny straps that add both ease of movement and comfort to these voluminous silhouettes to bring them up to date. Our bridal stylists suggest pairing your classic ball gown with a dramatic veil and a pair of pearl earrings. Barbara Palvin’s corseted and draped wedding gown is our ultimate classic bridal style inspiration, and we adore the addition of long, semi-sheer gloves with this look.

Our top picks to get the classic bridal look is the Noah Gown, Atillia Veil - Blusher and Bailee Earrings
