STEP INTO LE JARDIN ~ THE LATEST CATHERINE DEANE COLLECTION
We couldn't be more thrilled to introduce you to our latest bridal collection ~ Le Jardin. The much anticipated collection highlights what Catherine Deane designs have become synonymous with; intricate lace details and luxurious fabrications, combined with feminine silhouettes, all grown together into a collection that aims to celebrate a world where women feel valued and beautiful. We caught up with Catherine Deane, our designer and creative director, to discuss everything from her design process, inspiration and even her favourites piece from the collection!
What inspired the latest collection ~ Le Jardin?
I am always inspired by the beauty of nature ~ Le Jardin is French for ‘The Garden’. Cape Town has got to be the most beautiful place on earth and living here for the past 4 years has me constantly in contact with nature, from the majestic mountains, to its azure coloured sparkling oceans, powder white beaches, tree-filled forests and breath taking fauna and flora. I’ve developed a passion for gardening in recent years and love growing flowers and herbs. I am blessed with a beautiful garden and studio space in Cape Town, filled with fruit trees, lavender, rosemary and jasmine - its’s a constant source of inspiration watching the butterflies, birds and bees enjoying the fruits and flowers as much as I do. And so, the Le Jardin collection came to life!
Talk us through your design process and how you chose the fabrics for this collection.
I love to take the organic qualities of the natural world combined with geometric and linear lines, so we looked for combinations of these elements when sourcing our luxurious fabrics and when designing artworks for embroidered laces. We drape the fabrics three dimensionally on a mannequin, ensuring the most soft and flattering fit and silhouettes for our brides ~ allowing the fabric to sculpt the feminine form. We always have comfort and ease at mind for our brides, and use only the softest, lightweight fabrics and linings in our collections. Our aim is also to create with eco fabrics and laces as far as possible, something we have been passionate about for many season.
If you had to choose a favourite gown or separates combination from the collection, which would it be?
The Lilith Gown is the epitome of a dreamy, romantic garden wedding look. Her beautifully exclusive and detailed lace design was created in-house which makes her truly one-of-a- kind. Using our signature formula of organic florals, wrapped around linear curves, we created a fit-and-flare silhouette with voluminous long sleeves for the romantic, bohemian bride. Lilith’s soft V-neckline flatters the bust and the curved lines and shapes in the gown accentuate the feminine form.
What is your advice for brides-to-be when choosing their dream wedding dress?
Always stay true to yourself and embrace your unique style and personality when choosing your wedding gown. The wedding dress experience, however exciting, can be overwhelming so we always suggest choosing a gown or bridal outfit that makes you feel like an elevated version of yourself.
