Sophia & James

OUR STORY
 Couple’s Names:
Sophia & James
  Wedding date:
19th May 2024

Our love story:
James and I met online (during COVID) and from day one it was if we had known each other for a lifetime. We met for the first time in Burford (the location of our wedding!) and from there we never really wanted to be apart; from walks & picnics in the countryside with my dogs to freezing beer garden dates, we were determined to try date properly whilst following all the COVID rules. One of our favourite dates was to get a Huffkins Picnic bag (which we recreated for our guests as favours!) and go sit on top of a hill to watch the world go by.

  Our engagement story:
For my birthday in August 2022, we decided to have a little holiday to Rome, whilst being 30 weeks pregnant. On my actual birthday, we climbed to the top of the Roman forum (bearing in mind it was also 36 degrees celsius!) as I was determined to see the history. The view was amazing and so worth the climb. Just as I was taking a picture, from behind me I heard James said he had something to ask me, to which I turned around and he was on one knee with the most amazing amethyst ring!

Falling in love with my Catherine Deane outfit:

Whilst searching for dresses I stumbled across Catherine Deane and felt every dress really resonated with me, in particular the Mia dress. I was adamant that was my dress even before trying it on. I went in search of a local stockist, it was the first dress I tried and it really was MY dress. The dress felt like home to me of course, I tried on multiple dresses after but nothing gave me the same feeling. It means so much to me, as I felt like my dress was made for me. It was such a big part of the most wonderful day; allowing me to feel comfortable, confident and completely myself.

Did you find your Catherine Deane gown at our London Boutique, at one of our bridal stockists, or online?

I went to a local stockist, The Little Bridal Boutique, which is a small boutique within Cat's home. Cat was wonderful and really made me feel comfortable to try on anything and wanted to understand exactly what made me feel my best.

Tell us about your Wedding Venue:

Our venue was the Bay Tree Hotel in Burford, part of the Cotswold. It's a stunning old hotel with so much character and an intimate feel. It was the perfect setting for our day and we can not thank the venue enough for all they did for us!

Wedding style:
Relaxed and Floral

Our most memorable moment:
My most memorable moment is probably making our place name keyrings with my eldest daughter and my now husband! We made them completely from scratch in the evenings and it was just so wonderful that she could have her own stamp on the day!

 Our funniest moment:
The funniest moment (after I got over the initial shock!) was probably when I accidentally caught my sleeve in my gravy!! My best friends and my photographer were all trying to scrub it off of me in my bathroom at the venue, we did have to laugh! After a white flannel and some Molton Brown hand soap there was not a single stain!
